We chose this location for a huge family reunion. 18 people from around the world together for the first time in many years. And we couldn't have chosen a better place. The interior is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service could not have been better. The owners even let us use their car park while we stayed across the road, the driveway being a bit tight for our minibus. Wonderful people. Heartily recommended.

Popped in for dinner Saturday just gone, instantly felt very warmly welcomed. Beautiful place, especially with the fire glowing. The menu & food preparation was explained clearly to us and we were encouraged to have a look around and not stay stuck to our table. The food came out and was absolutely incredible, we both were very satisfied and went home feeling very stuffed. We would definitely visit again.

We had the most amazing Sunday lunch here, it was a last minute booking with a dog! And it was the most wonderful place lovely food and cosy surroundings 10/10

Made a quick 1 night stop at Bodkin House while on a cycling trip with my brother. Gaynor and Matt were perfect hosts; they were incredibly welcoming, provided us with a safe place to leave the bikes overnight, and the dinner was very tasty and the portions generous. The bedroom was spacious and the beds comfortable. Couldn't have asked for more for our last evening/night before the end of our trip! Thanks again!

We (my husband and two sisters) had the pleasure of staying in this lovely Hotel. Gaynor and Matt were such kind and gracious hosts. Of all the places we stayed in on our two week Cotswold Way vacation, this was, by far, hands down our favorite. It checked off every box - attractive, comfortable, great food and drinks (flower shaped ice cubes and flowers in the drinks!) and best hosts in the UK. NOTHING could be improved.

We booked the Hunters Lodge at Bodkin House for our wedding party to stay before and after our wedding. Gaynor and Matthew were so welcoming and accommodating, they offered so much and helped with any needs. We couldn’t rate them high enough as they went over and beyond what we were expecting. The accommodation was cosy, comfy and clean. They were also dog friendly which was a huge plus for us and even provided a nice little doggy treat. The food was brilliant, high quality and cooked perfectly (Will be going back for Sunday lunch!). The grounds and surrounding countryside are beautiful, we would definitely stay there again.

So lucky to have booked a room here on the last night of our hike along the Cotswold Way. Gaynor and Matt are perfect hosts who literally went the extra mile to help us. We enjoyed a wonderful evening meal and a huge breakfast to set us up for our final day into Bath. The rooms are very comfortable, generous and beautifully decorated. It was a shame we were only there for one night. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

I would HIGHLY recommend Bodkin house for a private event or get together. I had a baby shower here today and it was just wonderful. Gaynor and Matt are wonderful hosts and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was incredible, we had afternoon tea and there was plenty of food. The hotel & bar is so beautifully decorated with bags of character and style. Each room is carefully thought out and full of little touches. Our event felt personal and bespoke and I would 100% return. Thank you Bodkin house for a fab afternoon!

This is an absolutely delightful pub. We were celebrating a special occasion and the owners went over and above to make sure everything was perfect and bespoke! We hired one of their amazing private dinning suits and they decorated the room for us which was truly enchanting and sophisticated. There was 22 people to cater for, the food was delicious and served at just the right times. I even got personally designed cocktails! I just want to thank 'Bodkin House Hotel' so much especially Matthew and Gaynor! You obviously poured your hearts and souls into running this establishment and it really shows! Thanks you again! The food was absolutely fantastic! Proper British comfort food, served in the most beautiful setting. We were next to the fire place, all warm and cosy. The service was impeccable. Really worth a visit! ♡ loved it!

Lovely venue with fabulous hosts who make you feel special although I have driven past many times before I won’t in future. Steeped in history I just love the flagstones and once the fire on it is well cosy. The food was lovely and all small requirements happily fulfilled. Give it ago!

Recently refurbished by the new owners to a very high standard. Rooms are well equipped for couples or individuals as well as a self contained family room . Very well situated in beautiful location close to walks that can be accessed straight from the hotel. Lots of history around the area including the hotel itself . The food and service is perfect including the hosts Matthew and Gaynor who are very helpful and accommodating. I would recommend the hotel for both long or short breaks . Large garden with play areas ideal for the kids too ! Many thanks again for a wonderful stay

Great place with lots of history behind it. Great for walks. Lovely rooms, very friendly couple who run it and great service. Food is amazing, if you can't decide you cant go wrong with lasagne and chocolate brownies with custard for dessert. Will definitely be returning in the future

We passed by this place yesterday because I was craving something sweet and tasty, the couple that works there, I will assume the owners are so friendly, accommodating, and sweet. The place inside is so eautifully decorated and it has really nice vibes. They brought us scones and strawberries with cream, and it was delicious, homemade fresh, so tasty we ordered twice. Yummy. We will be back sometime this year or next to try the accommodation since we had such a great experience in this place.

We just stopped for an afternoon tea after a long 4 hour journey. Our afternoon tea was delicious. All the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the warm and friendly welcome. Looking forward to returning again.

I crashed my car outside this place at night and had nowhere to go. I went into this hotel and they were immediately very kind and friendly, helping calm me down, made me a cup of tea and chatted to me to distract me and helped me sort out calling breakdown cover before someone was able to come collect me. Even let me put on the barbie movie soundtrack over the speakers in my slightly hysterical state. Absolutely lovely people who own this place, super friendly and kind. Would have been sat in a lay-by for an hour at 11pm without these guys, thanks!!!!!

On the way to Gloucester. Had to stop for an urgent pee. Didn't eat or drink as we were on a mission. The toilets are fabulous, though, and the proprietor is a real gentleman. Next time, sir, we will try your fare. The place looks clean and well presented. Additional info. A Bodkin was a sharp instrument for making holes in cloth.😌

We booked a table for evening meal following our visit to Badminton Horse Trials. Location was fab, just around the corner. The team were so friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and well priced. We had a lovely evening. Thank you so much.

We had a celebration high tea for my elderly mother’s birthday at Bodkin House. Everything was excellent, delicious food and nothing was too much trouble for both Gaynor and Matthew. We had a private room and great thought had been put into arranging the furniture and unexpected decorations. Highly recommended.

We had a hen do in the accomodation opposite so most of us did not stay in the Bodkin aside from one of the group. We booked a meal for the Saturday night for 17 of us and the service was unbelievable, all the staff were so attentive and friendly. They booked us a private room, which was decorated beautifully and we even had use of our own speakers. The food was delicious, hot and they had a great new menu with good variety. The staff even played some spontaneous games with us. Fully recommend !! Thanks Matt, Gaynor and the full team.
